This panorama, taken by Christopher Gjevre, captures the Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish® defeating their oldest hockey rival, the Michigan Wolverines, on White Out Night at Compton Family Ice Arena. The two teams first met during the 1921-22 season and have played each other over 130 times. Since ice hockey was first established at Notre Dame in 1912, the program has greatly evolved. Today, in its fifth decade at the Division I level and playing in the NCAA as a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), the Irish™ have earned multiple NCAA Tournament and Frozen Four appearances. Starting in the 2013-14 season, Notre Dame will join Hockey East.
