Adding to the excitement of the day, the Cardinals donned throw-back uniforms to honor the 1986 NCAA Championship team on their 30th anniversary. Since 2001, the Cardinals have been coached by Rick Pitino, who holds the distinction of being the only men's coach in NCAA history to lead three different schools to a Final Four and the only coach in the NCAA to lead two different schools to an NCAA National Championship.
