This panoramic photo, taken on January 26, 2024, captures the opening puck drop in the Augustana Vikings' inaugural game at the new Midco Arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A capacity crowd of 3,183 turned out to see the Vikings host their CCHA rival the Ferris State Bulldogs. The Vikings began this, their first season, playing at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, prior to the completion of the new on-campus, Midco Arena. Hockey is not only the Augustana's first Division 1 sport, but it also brings the first college hockey program to the state of South Dakota.
