This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, spotlights the Auburn Tigers playing for a victory over an SEC opponent on their home turf at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2011. Auburn Football has a long and storied history, beginning in 1892, when George Petrie organized the first team and led the Tigers to a 2-2 record. Petrie also chose burnt orange and navy blue as the official colors for Auburn athletic teams, inspired by his alma mater. Auburn was led by nine different coaches over a 12-year span, which most notably included John Heisman (1895-1899), for whom the Heisman Trophy is named. Today, the Auburn Tigers claim two “National Championships” titles. Auburn University was chartered on February 7, 1856.Framing Options:
